Terms of use
These terms apply to use of the Expert Witness QA prototype. Please read them before using the platform.
Prototype terms
These are working terms for prototype use. They have not yet been reviewed by a solicitor. Do not treat them as final commercial terms.
A. Status of the service
Expert Witness QA is currently a prototype quality-assurance tool. Access may be limited, changed, suspended or withdrawn during development. No guarantee of continued availability is given.
B. Permitted use
Users may use the platform to review draft medicolegal expert reports for quality-control purposes, instruction coverage, consistency, redaction status and apparent omissions.
C. Prohibited use
Users must not use the platform:
- to obtain diagnosis, treatment advice, causation opinion, prognosis opinion, liability advice or legal advice;
- to replace independent expert judgement;
- to produce a report for service without expert review;
- to upload identifiable or confidential material during prototype testing unless appropriate authority and governance are in place;
- to process documents they are not authorised to use;
- to reverse-engineer or misuse the service;
- to upload malicious files.
D. No professional advice
The platform provides automated QA prompts only. Outputs are not medical advice, legal advice, expert opinion or litigation strategy. Users must verify outputs independently.
E. Expert responsibility
The expert remains responsible for the final report and for any amendments made after using the platform. The user must not represent that the platform has approved, certified or endorsed the report.
F. Accuracy and availability
The system may produce incomplete, inaccurate or irrelevant outputs. It may miss issues. It may flag issues that are not genuine. The service is provided on an “as is” and testing basis during the prototype phase.
G. Data and confidentiality
Users must ensure they have authority to upload any document. During prototype testing, only anonymised, synthetic or appropriately authorised material should be used. Users are responsible for reviewing redaction before processing.
H. Intellectual property
The platform, prompts, workflows, QA frameworks, user interface, output structure, specialty modules and associated materials are owned by Expert Witness QA Limited (ownership and legal entity to be confirmed before publication). Users retain responsibility for and rights in their own uploaded documents, subject to their own professional and client obligations.
